What PGZen supports

PostgreSQL versions

PGZen follows PostgreSQL’s own officially supported major versions. This release is tested against PostgreSQL 14 through 18 — every major before release, and the oldest and newest on every change in continuous integration, against a real PostgreSQL server rather than mocked responses. PostgreSQL 19 is tested separately as a prerelease and is not yet part of supported versions.

macOS

macOS 26.0 or later. PGZen is built on macOS 26’s native SwiftUI and Liquid Glass APIs directly — there is no legacy-OS compatibility mode, which is what makes the native interaction model possible.

Connection types

PGZen connects over direct TCP or through an SSH tunnel. TLS policies are disable, prefer, require, verify-ca and verify-full: require encrypts without verifying the certificate, and prefer can fall back to plaintext. Custom CA and client-certificate material belongs to the verifying modes. When you connect by IP address, a TLS server name lets verify-full check the name the certificate was issued to.

Current limitations
  • Unix-domain-socket connections are not supported.
  • SSH tunnels authenticate with a password or an Ed25519 private key. RSA and ECDSA keys and SSH agents are not supported.
What's stored, and where
  • Connection passwords are stored in the macOS Keychain, not in profile files, and are used when you connect to your database or SSH server.
  • Crash reporting is opt-in and disabled by default. Reports never include your SQL, bound values, query results, or credentials — see the Privacy Policy.
